Winter Juniors Qualifier Michael Morris Announces Commitment To TCU For Fall 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Winter Juniors qualifier Michael Morris has announced his commitment to stay in state, pledging to Texas Christian University for the fall of 2026. He publicized the news on Instagram, writing:

I am humbled and blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Texas Christian University! First, I thank God for blessing me with this opportunity and my family for their constant love and support. I also thank Coach Stibrich, Coach Jake, Coach Pink, and Coach Matt for shaping me into the person and swimmer I am today. Finally, thank you Coach Heckman and Coach Winchester for this amazing opportunity. Go Frogs!!

A senior at Summer Creek High School in Houston, Morris has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with Blue Tide Aquatics, where he specializes in breaststroke.

While Morris has consistently dropped time from season to season, he took things to an entirely new level over the past 12 months. Since last March, he has dropped nearly two seconds in the 100 breast, going from 57.46 to 55.54, and over five seconds in the 200, improving from 2:06.91 to 2:01.56.

His first big drops of the season came in December at Winter Juniors, where he broke 57 in the 100 breast for the first time, finishing 37th, and dropped four seconds in the 200 breast with a 2:02.77 for 58th.

In February, Morris headed to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Championships. He narrowly missed the ‘A’ final in the 100 breast, touching 12th in prelims with a 56.67 before winning the ‘B’ final in 55.58. With the 200 breast not contested at the high school level, he also swam the 200 free, placing 16th in 1:42.42, a bit off his 1:41.13 lifetime best set earlier in the season in what is an off-event for the future Horned Frog. The meet marked his first time making any type of state final and his first time qualifying in an event outside the 100 breast after finishing 19th as a junior and failing to qualify as a freshman and sophomore.
Morris most recently wrapped up his short course season at last week’s Speedo Sectionals – Justin, touching 18th in the 100 breast (56.66) and 117th in the 200 breast with his current lifetime best.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 Breaststroke: 55.54
  • 200 Breaststroke: 2:02.77

A Division I program, TCU competes in the Big 12, with the men’s team placing fourth out of seven teams at the 2026 Big 12 Championships a few weeks ago. To earn a second swim at this season’s conference championships, it took times of 54.86/1:59.02 in the 100/200 breast, putting Morris outside the cutoff in both of his top events.

On the team’s projected 2026–27 depth chart, factoring in graduations, Morris is projected to rank fifth in both breaststroke events, adding depth to a roster that had four swimmers score in the 100 and three in the 200 at Big 12s.

Joining Morris at TCU in the fall will be sprint freestylers Thomas Bradac and Gabe Bosler-Kilmer, as well as Lincoln Hoffmann (fly, free, & IM), who should all make for a strong training partner over the next four years.
