FINAL RESULTS

The Princeton women have now won their fourth consecutive Ivy League Championships, and third consecutive under head coach Abby Brethauer. The Tigers scored 1432 points, 228 more than runner-up Penn (1204) and 278.5 more than third-place Harvard (1153.5). The win marks Princeton’s 28th women’s swimming and diving conference title, more than any other Ivy program.

Princeton began the meet with a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 medley and 800 free relays on Day 1, which put them 4 points behind Harvard in the standings. They dropped to 4th place after the 500 free on Day 2, but vaulted to the top after the 200 IM and never relinquished their lead for the next 16 events.

Junior Eleanor Sun won the High Point Swimmer of the Meet for the second year in a row, while senior Charlotte Martinkus was named High Point Diver of the Meet for the third time in her career.

All told, Princeton won 4 individual swimming events, 1 relay, and 1 diving event. There was at least one Tiger – and as many as four – on the podium of every event.

After the relays on Day 1, Princeton came out swinging in the individual events. The Tigers dominated the prelims sessions on Days 2, 3, and 4, placing 35 swimmers and divers into ‘A’ finals, 14 into ‘B’ finals, and 4 into ‘C’ finals. They were on every relay podium, winning once, placing 2nd 3 times, and finished 3rd once.

Princeton outperformed their psych sheet seedings by 40.5 points on Day 2, 30.5 on Day 3, and 67 on Day 4. They squeezed 4 into the ‘A’ finals of the 400 IM and 200 fly; 3 in the 200 IM, 50 free, 1-meter diving, 100 fly, 100 back, and 3-meter diving; 2 in the 200 back and 100 free; and 1 in every other event.

Princeton’s 2026 Ivy League Championships Team

Junior Eleanor Sun was named High Point Swimmer of the Meet for the second consecutive Championships. The only swimmer to win all three of her individual events, she scored 96 points for the Tigers. Sun won the 200 IM (1:55.62), 400 IM (4:05.55), and 200 fly (1:54.78), earning automatic bids to the 2026 NCAA Championships in all three events. She also scored points as a member of the 400 free relay and 800 free relay.

Senior Sabrina Johnston accounted for 87 points with a win and automatic NCAA qualifying spot in the 50 free (22.07), a 2nd in the 100 free (48.55), and a 3rd in the 100 back (52.58). She swam fly (22.93) on the runner-up medley relay, leg 2 (1:45.95) of the runner-up 800 free relay, and leadoff (22.11) on the winning 200 free relay.

First-years Sophia Sunwoo (77), Sophie Segerson (77), Savannah Skow (76), Delaney Herr (75), and Chloe Kim (72) logged a total of 377 points. Sunwoo placed 3rd in the 50 free (22.32) and 100 free (48.90) and 7th in the 100 fly (53.43). Segerson was runner-up in the 200 IM (1:58.51), 3rd in the 400 IM (4:11.50), and 8th in the 200 back (1:57.43). Skow took 5th in the 500 free (4:43.39), 3rd in the 200 free (1:45.38), and 6th in the 200 fly (1:59.96). Herr was 6th in the 200 free (22.78), 4th in the 100 back (52.77), and 5th in the 200 back (1:56.55). Kim was runner-up in the 400 IM (4:10.59) and 8th in both the mile (16:28.86) and 200 fly (2:03.61). One or more of this group participated in every relay, with Herr, Skow, and Sunwoo making up 3 of the 4 legs on the 400 medley relay.

Seniors Eliza Brown (73) and Heidi Smithwick (70) have been major contributors to all four of the Princeton championship teams, and this year was no different. Brown was 8th in the 200 IM (2:04.13), 7th in the 100 breast (1:02.07), and 2nd in the 200 breast (2:12.92). She swam the breast leg on the 400 medley relay. Smithwick placed 12th in the 50 free (22.82), 2nd in the 100 fly (52.94), and 3rd in the 200 fly (1:56.73). She also swam breast on the 200 medley relay and anchored the 800 free relay.
