Harvard’s Sydney Lu kicked off Day 3 Finals with her second consecutive Ivy League 100 fly title. She led from start to finish, splitting 24.37/27.60 to touch in 51.97.

It was crowded at the 50 wall, with Lu turning only 3-tenths ahead of Penn’s Kayla Fu and Brown’s Lillian Klinginsmith, and 4-tenths ahead of Princeton’s Edie Simecek and Sophia Sunwoo and Penn’s Briana Cong.

While Lu pulled away on the second 50, the race for second place behind her was heating up. Princeton’s Heidi Smithwick outsplit the rest of the field by 3-tenths to move from 7th place at the 50 to 2nd at the finish with 52.94 (24.84/28.10).

Penn teammates Fu (53.05) and Cong (53.22) got to the finish just ahead of Klinginsmith (53.30), Simecek (53.39), and Sunwoo (53.43). Penn’s Kate Levensten placed 8th (53.94).

Princeton’s Eleanor Sun punched her second ticket to the 2026 NCAA Championships with a 4:05.55 victory in the 400 IM. This was her second consecutive Ivy League title in the 400, but this time she broke the meet record of 4:06.15, set by Princeton’s Alicia Aemisegger in 2009.

Sun led from wire to wire, followed by teammates Chloe Kim and Sophie Segerson, swimming in lanes 5 and 8, respectively. Sun led off with 56.05 on the fly, already half a body ahead of Segerson (26.70) and Kim (26.79) at the 50. Sun increased her lead to 1 second at the 100 wall, turning into the backstroke leg with 56.06. Segerson (57.07) led Kim (57.20) in 2nd place, while Brown’s Sumner Chmielewski trailed in 4th (57.95).

Sun maintained her lead on the backstroke, splitting 31.98/31.78. Kim moved back into 2nd place with 1:02.8 on the backstroke. Chmielewski moved past Segerson. Penn’s Katya Eruslanova was 5th, leading the rest of the field.

Sun split 1:08.97 on the breaststroke, increasing her lead to 4.2 seconds over the field at the 300. Kim held on at 2nd (1:12.94), Segerson moved back into 3rd (1:12.47), and Yale’s Caroline Riggs passed Eruslanova to trail Sun, Kim, Segerson, and Chmielewski at the 300.

Sun came home in 56.77 to notch a meet record-breaking time of 4:05.55, while teammates Kim (57.64 free) and Segerson (57.68 free) gave the Tigers a 1-2-3 sweep with 4:10.59 and 4:11.50, respectively.

Eruslanova got past Chmielewski and Riggs on the freestyle leg, giving the Quakers a 4th-place finish with her 4:12.72.

Riggs placed 6th (4:13.84) ahead of Princeton’s Meg Wheeler (4:15.03) and Harvard’s Stephanie Iannaccone (4:17.27).

Women’s 200 Freestyle – Finals

Brown’s Morgan Lukinac, who won this event in 2024 but missed last season due to a medical redshirt year, blasted a 1:44.20 to win the 200 free final, taking a full 1.2 seconds off the Brown record. Lukinac was already half a body length out front at the 50 wall, flipping in 24.19. She followed with 25.87/26.51/27.63 to come to the wall a full second ahead of teammate Crystal Yuen (1:45.28).

Yuen came from behind to touch out Princeton’s Savannah Skow (1:45.38), who had been in second place for most of the race. Another Brown Bear, Isabella Dieffenthaller, nearly caught Skow as well, but wound up in fourth place with 1:45.60.

Penn’s Anna Moehn (1:47.23) and Julia Ebli of Yale (1:47.62) got to the wall just ahead of Brown’s Kelly Dolce (1:47.69). Dartmouth’s Carinn Bethea, who broke the school record in heats, finished 8th with 1:48.03.

Jessey Li of Yale was out like a shot in the final of the 100 breast, turning at the 50 wall in 28.25, nearly half a body length ahead of Penn’s Kate Handley, Li’s teammate Devyn Sargent, and Dartmouth’s Katherine Jia.

Li came home in 32.30, just enough to hold off Handley, Sargent, and a fast-charging Angelina Chen of Brown. Li secured the victory with 1:00.55, just over half a second off her winning time in 2023.

Handley broke the Penn program record with her second-place finish of 1:00.97. Sargent gave Yale a 1-3 podium finish, while Chen clipped Harvard’s Aliana Marakovic, 1:01.58 to 1:01.72, for 4th. Marakovic came from behind to touch out Jia by .01. Princeton’s Eliza Brown (1:02.07) and Ashley Hong of Columbia (1:02.37) rounded out the final.

Anya Mostek of Harvard became one of only a small handful of Ivy League swimmers to sweep an event all four years in a row. Mostek won her fourth consecutive 100 backstroke title with an Ivy League, Ivy Meet, Harvard program, and Brown pool record time of 51.31.

Swimming in lane 6 after a 4th-place finish in prelims, she shot out to an early lead and never looked back. Mostek split 24.77/26.54 to come to the wall 8-tenths ahead of Penn’s Amy Qin (52.15), who had been the fastest in prelims. Princeton’s Sabrina Johnston (52.58) and Delaney Herr (52.77) finished 3rd and 4th, swapping places from where they’d been at the halfway point.

Penn’s Kate Levensten (52.93) and Brianna Cong (53.41) came in 5th and 6th, while Princeton’s Edie Simecek (54.13) beat Harvard’s Blythe Wieclawek (54.79) for 7th.

Harvard swam lights out in the final event, taking down the Ivy League, meet, and pool record of 3:32.72 by .28. Mostek swam her second sub-52 100 backstroke of the evening, leading off with 51.45. Marakovic followed with a 1:00.73 on the breast, the second-fastest split in the field (Yale’s Li went 1:00.14).

By the time Lu took over, Harvard was up by 1.5 seconds over the field. Yale had eked past Penn into second place, while Penn was a full second ahead of Princeton in 3rd. Lu split a 52.15 to give the Crimson a 2-second advantage over Penn at the 300. Princeton got by Yale and now sat in 3rd place.

Wieclawek came home in 48.11, the fastest anchor by .13.

Penn finished 2nd with 3:35.67 with splits from Qin (52.42), Handley (1:01.40, Margaret Hu (53.46), and Fu (48.39).

Princeton (3:36.32) took the third spot on the podium with the quartet of Herr (53.15), Brown (1:01.43), Skow (53.50), and Sunwoo (48.24).

It was a big performance from the Crimson, who are in a tight battle with Penn and Brown in the team standings.
