RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC San Diego dominated in their dual meet against California Baptist, outscoring the Lancers 171 to 71 on the women’s side, 172 to 70 on the men’s. Three pool records were set by the Tritons during the meet. Overall, they earned 22 first-place finishes out of 26 events.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
UC San Diego A, Hunter Cehelnik, William Seymour, Zach Elian, Aidan Rikic, broke a pool record in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:20.87. Landon Egeland, Luigi Franco, and Charlie Franz swept the 500 Freestyle (4:29.19, 4:31.37, 4:31.40 respectively). The Tritons also swept the 50 Breaststroke. Adrian Bellido took first (25.35), Trent Hollandsworth second (26.19), and Bekzhan Yessengeldy third (26.30). They then took the 50 Freestyle, Kyle Kengla topped (20.91), Jacob Wang (20.92) finished next, Lucas Brunett followed (20.97). In the 100 Butterfly, Brunnet took first (48.85), Jacob Cairns followed immediately after (48.86), and Bellido placed third (49.21).

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
Asia Kozan broke a pool record in the 400 IM (4:11.41). Chloe Braun also broke a pool record in the 100 Breaststroke (59.69). Sophia Bell (4:54.93), Sydney Niles (4:57.27), and Belle Pucket (5:03.87) swept the 500 Freestyle. Bell placed first in the 200 Freestyle (1:49.73), with Edana Huang in second (1:50.26), and Puckett in third (1:53.18).

UP NEXT
The Triton women will travel cross town to compete against San Diego next Saturday, Jan. 31. The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m. at USD Sports Center Pool.

RIVERSIDE — The California Baptist University swim team hit the pool for the final time in Riverside on Saturday, taking on UC San Diego in a dual. The meet wraps up CBU’s home schedule as the program shifts focus to its first run at the MPSF Conference Tournament.
Saturday’s dual was a swim-exclusive event. The CBU dive team will be back in action later this month.
CBU grabbed its first victory of the day in the women’s 50-yard butterfly as Sara Svorvan won with a time of 27.74. The Lancers added a runner-up finish in the men’s event as Tyler Mansheim finished in second by just 0.06 seconds.
A second win for the Lancers came in the men’s 400-yard IM as Mark Kovacsics took the event with a time of 3:55.16, a four second victory. Ian Mullen added the next victory with a time of 56.68 in the men’s 100-yard breaststroke.
Samuil Danaliov was next to place first with a time of 1:40.17 in the men’s 200-yard freestyle.

CBU swim will return to action at the end of February for the MPSF Conference Tournament. This will be CBU’s first time competing at the MPSF event. The CBU dive team will be in action later this month at the Air Force Dive Invite in Colorado.
