Maxime Grousset swam to a new US Open Record during semifinals of the Pro Series in Austin posting a 22.81. That broke the previous US Open record of a 22.84 set by Caeleb Dressel back at 2022 US International Team Trials.

Grousset is the top seed heading into tomorrow night’s final by over half a second as Van Mathias of Indiana is the #2 seed after winning the 2nd semifinal heat tonight in a 23.46.

Yesterday, Grousset told SwimSwam “I will beat the time of Caeleb I hope” more specifically in reference to the 100 fly. He did that tonight though in the 50 with this swim. Dressel was notably 3rd tonight in a 23.50.

Grousset holds the French National Record in the 50 fly which stands at a 22.48 that he swam at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore to win gold. He swam a 22.61 in semifinals while in Singapore.
