Revolution Aquatic Club’s Joey Eaddy put on an incredible performance at the ABF Nov Trials and Finals meet in late November in Boston, hosted by the Bluefish Swim Club.
Eaddy has since aged up and turned 15, but was still 14 years old during this meet, and he made an impact in the all-time rankings for 13-14 boys.
In the 500 freestyle, Eaddy dropped a time of 4:25.49 in the final, launching him up to 4th all-time in the 13-14 age group and 1st this season. He came into the meet with a best time of 4:29.58, set in April, and had lowered it to 4:29.33 in the prelims.
In the all-time rankings, Luka Mijatovic towers over the field as the fastest swimmer in 13-14 history by nearly 10 seconds, while Michael Phelps notably gets bumped down one spot to 7th on the list after Eaddy’s performance last month.

Eaddy also set a personal best time of 1:39.91 in the 200 free at the meet, moving him into 42nd all-time in the boys’ 13-14 age group and 1st this season. That swim came in the prelims, improving on his week-old best time of 1:40.09, and then he went on to clock 1:39.99 in the final.
Eaddy also set best times in the 100 back (51.61) and 200 IM (1:54.60), ranking him 9th and 20th in the 13-14 age group this season, respectively. He also set a season-best of 15:23.80 in the 1650 free, ranking him 1st this season in the age group. He set his PB of 15:19.74 back in March.
At Winter Juniors – East as a 15-year-old a few weeks later, Eaddy set new best times in the 200 back (1:46.89) and 400 IM (3:57.88) while placing 11th in the 1650 free (15:25.04), 16th in the 1000 free (9:13.89) and 27th in the 500 free (4:29.43).
Commonwealth Swimming’s Gerhardt Hoover, 17, also had a notable showing at the meet, setting new season-bests in the 100 free (46.48), 100 back (50.02) and 100 breast (56.27) while also winning the 200 breast (2:01.09), 200 IM (1:49.33) and 400 IM (3:55.67).
Earlier this month at Winter Juniors – East, the Virginia commit set new best times in the 100 back (49.12), 200 back (1:45.06), 200 IM (1:46.54) and 400 IM (3:47.13).
On the girls’ side, Bluefish Swim Club’s Jacqueline Zipagan, 16, had a standout swim in the 100 fly, setting a new lifetime best of 54.34 to rank 31st in the girls’ 15-16 age group this season.
Revolution Aquatic Club’s Sarah Zhang, 15, set a pair of noteworthy best times in the 200 IM (2:05.31) and 400 IM (4:20.77), though at Winter Juniors – East earlier this month, she went even lower. Zhang got down to 4:12.89 in the 400 IM at Winter Juniors, ranking her 3rd this season among 15-year-old girls, while her time of 2:03.88 in the 200 IM ranks 47th.

Imagine trying to break the 13-14 Pleaston seahawks team record.
I mean that time from Mijatovic is utterly ridiculous.
This swim would have been a lot more noteworthy pre Luka. It would have been half a second off the NAG, and now it’s more than 10 off. I know people say this all the time but I truly do not see this record getting broken for an extremely long time. I’m curious how it compares to Katie Ledecky’s distance ahead of the field when her records were set.
let’s put MA on the map
You know I do wonder what MA could have gone during his age group days in the 500. He clearly had a good 400 IM when he was younger what’s to say he couldn’t have broken the 13-14 NAG in the 500 when he was at his aerobic peak.
This kid is a chip off the old block. His father was great too.
Dad was great, but Mom and family are hall of fame swimmers in RI. Good pedigree- excited to see both Eaddy’s development over the next few years.
