Thirteen-Year-Old Tyler Harris Hits 52.1 100 Back, 52.9 100 Fly At ISCA Fall Classic

Thirteen-year-old Tyler Harris was the top performer of the 2025 ISCA Fall Classic just over a week ago in Hampton, Va., picking up three victories and setting four personal best times.

The Mason Makos Swim Team product stood out with wins in the boys’ 100 back and 100 fly, bringing his best times down from 55-point to sub-53 in both.

In the 100 back, Harris clocked 54.17 in the prelims to lower his previous best of 55.66, and then in the final, he got all the way down to 52.15, ranking him 2nd this season among 13-year-old boys and 12th in the 13-14 age group this season.

In the 100 fly, he shattered his best time in the prelims, going from 55.60 to 52.93, ranking him 3rd this season among 13-year-old boys and 31st in the 13-14 age group. In the final, he clocked 53.16 to secure the victory.

Harris added best times in the 200 free (1:52.62) and 200 IM (2:00.02), the latter ranking him 8th this season among 13-year-old boys.

Duelling with Harris in the 100 back at the meet was HVA Current’s William Caywood, who was 13 during the meet but has recently aged up and turned 14.

Caywood set a personal best of 52.94 in the 100 back final, placing 2nd to Harris and moving to 27th this season in the boys’ 13-14 age group (and 5th among 13-year-olds). He also set bests in the 50 back (24.85), 100 breast (59.94) and 200 IM (1:59.46), ranking him 13th, 30th and 50th this season among 13-14s, respectively.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Raleigh Swimming Association’s Blake Valyo, 16, set a pair of best times in the sprint breast events, clocking 25.87 in the 50 breast and 56.05 in the 100 breast. His swim in the 50 ranks him tied for 4th this season in the boys’ 15-16 age group, while in the 100, he ranks 21st.
  • Parkland Swimming Club’s Sydney LaBaugh, 16, won three events and set best times in everything she swam, with her headlining swim coming in the 100 back. LaBaugh set a new PB of 55.30 in the prelims, and then got down to 54.96 in the final, ranking her tied for 27th this season in the girls’ 15-16 age group. She also won the 50 free (23.42) and 100 fly (55.02), setting a PB of 54.72 in the prelims in the latter, and added bests in the 200 free (1:50.91), 500 free (5:06.25) and 400 IM (4:32.02).
  • Her teammate, 15-year-old Baylee Kish, clocked an unofficial PB of 25.99 in the 50 back, leading off the mixed 200 medley relay, before winning the individual final in 26.15. The relay lead-off swim would rank her 11th this season among 15-year-olds.
  • Old Dominion Aquatic Club’s Sophia Hallmann impressed with a 57.47 showing in the 100 back, ranking her 7th this season among 13-year-old girls.
