Southern California’s Minna Abraham posted a a time of 1:40.47 to rocket up to first in the NCAA this season and become the 7th fastest performer of all time in the 200 free. She dominated the race from start to finish, splitting 49.03/51.44 to shave 0.09 seconds off of her previous best time of 1:40.56, which she set at the 2025 NCAA Championships when she placed 2nd behind Anna Peplowski.
Had she swam this time however, she would have won the event ahead of Peplowski by 0.03 seconds. The junior is coming off a successful summer, where she was the U23 European Champion in the 200 free (1:56.03) and bronze medalist in the 100 (54.36) and 400 free (4:09.56). She also helped her home nation of Hungary to an 8th place finish at the World Championships in Singapore, leading off the 400 free relay in a personal best time of 53.97.
Abraham’s progression and strength in the 200 free has been evident, as she also competed at the World Cup stop in Westmont in October, taking 6th with a personal best time of 1:53.15.

Last night, Abaraham anchored the Trojans’ 800 free relay in 1:41.06 and led off their 200 medley relay in a time of 23.60. Tonight, she helped USC to a 6th place finish in the 200 free relay thanks to her 21.29 leg. Abraham still has the 500 free and 100 free remaining on her schedule for this invite.

Crazy how a 200 didn’t have any repeat names in the top 10 performances.
The list is performers, not performances. Both Gretchen and Missy have an additional 1:40 low time each that would rank just below Comerford’s best. Comerford has at least two other sub 1:40.30s to her name as well.
Incredible swim! While I’m a huge Missy Franklin fan, I would enjoy watching someone swim a 138 this year.
One of my favorite moments at the 2024 Short Course World Championships was watching the Hungarians finish ahead of the Australians in the W 4 x 200 FR-R.
Good Lord it’s really been a decade since Missy was a factor for Team USA 😢
This event is stacked this year… 1:41 to final?
Could be.
Could be up to 3 139s in the final too.
When it rains it pours.
Also, those poor W 200 Free swimmers who get 9th to 16th in prelims. They have been preemptively robbed.
