Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kelci Walsh of Marietta, Georgia, has announced her commitment to swim at Boston College. Currently attending Blessed Trinity Catholic High School and swimming year-round for the Stingrays of Marietta, Walsh will head east next fall to begin life in the ACC.

Walsh made the announcement on Instagram, writing:

After much prayer and consideration, I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Boston College! First, I want to thank God for His guidance throughout this process; without Him, none of this would be possible. I also want to thank my family and friends for their continuous support, and I am eternally grateful to my parents for all that they have sacrificed for me to reach this point. A huge thank you to every coach and teammate who has pushed me to be my best self both in and out of the pool. Lastly, thank you Coach Dara and Coach Bruno for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I cannot wait to be a part of such an amazing team! GO EAGLES!!

In the pool, Walsh specializes in mid-distance and distance freestyle. At the Georgia State Championships last December, she claimed the 1000 free title with a best time of 10:22.54, an improvement that saw her drop over 20 seconds from her previous best. She followed that swim up with a 10th-place finish in the 500 free (5:03.32) and a 29th-place finish in the 200 free (1:56.59), both season-best performances.

At the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) 4A State Championship in early February, Walsh helped her team secure second in the 200 medley relay with a 24.83 anchor leg and led them to fourth place with a 53.65 split on the 400 free relay. Individually, she took on the 500 free, hitting the wall for silver in 5:05.61. She also swam an off-event in the 100 breast, posting a best time of 1:09.15 to claim fifth.

The 2024-25 season marked the first year her high school competed at the 4A meet. Previously, the team swam at the 6A meet in 2024, where she took third in the 500 free with her current best of 5:02.26 and finished ninth in the 200 IM, improving from 11th-place finishes in both events as a freshman.

Walsh capped off the season at the Southeastern Meet of Champions in March, crushing her best in the mile by 27 seconds to clock 17:10.17 and take the win. She then shaved almost eight seconds off her 1000 free best to claim the runner-up spot in 10:14.64. She went on to add a top-eight finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.32.

Her best time of 1:54.50 in the 200 free was notched at the 2024 edition of the Southeastern Meet of Champions, but she didn’t swim that race at the 2025 meet and didn’t place much emphasis on it at any meet throughout the season.

Top SCY Times:

  • 200 Freestyle: 1:54.50
  • 500 Freestyle: 5:02.29
  • 1650 Freestyle: 17:10.17

The Boston College women, led by head coach Dara Torres, finished 15th at the 2025 ACC Championships. ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals are offered at the meet, and it took times of 1:46.56, 4:46.77, and 16:41.35 to score in the freestyle events.

Walsh will have an immediate impact once she arrives on campus, as she would have ranked second in the 1650 free, fourth in the 500 free, and sixth in the 200 free on the team’s 2024-25 depth chart. Senior Megan Kramer led the way in 500 and 1650, recording times of 4:51.35 and 16:43.10, while freshman Lauren Lee was the team’s fastest 200 freestyler at 1:49.30.

Walsh joins a 2030 recruiting class that currently includes Melissa Geiger, Vanessa Alvarado, Carley Kaplan, and Avery Cunneen.
