He had the fastest backstroke leg for the second week in a row, and at the halfway mark was less than two-tenths off Caeleb Dressel‘s WR pace. He did fall away from both Dressel and race leader Shaine Casas on the breaststroke leg, but held on strong to dip under 51 seconds and hold onto 3rd place.
In the course of just over a week, Kos has taken the Hungarian Record in the event down by nearly two seconds. The initial mark was the 52.82 he swam three years ago at the Hungarian Championships
Kos now sits in 14th all-time, but is just 0.04 seconds away from cracking the top 10. Behind him last night was American Grant House, who also vaults up the rankings to sit 17th after dropping from the 51.45 he posted last week.
