2027 “Best of the Rest” IMer Annabeth Town Sends Verbal Commitment to Northwestern

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

High school junior Annabeth Town from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, has made a verbal pledge to swim and study at Northwestern University beginning in the 2027-28 school year. She wrote to SwimSwam:

“I am overjoyed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University. First, I want to thank my coach, Jim Bocci, for cheering me on and always being there with enthusiasm! Another huge thanks to Coach Rachel, Coach Eddie, and the entire NU coaching staff for giving me this opportunity. Finally, the biggest thanks goes to my family, especially my mom, for always being there for me. I can’t wait to join the Wildcat family! GO ‘CATS!”

Town swims year-round under head coach Jim Bocci at Highlands Ranch Aquatics. She also swims for ThunderRidge High School whom she represented at the 2025 CHSAA Girls 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships last February, earning a pair of silver medals in the 500 free (4:58.38) and 200 IM (2:03.47). Her 200 IM time (altitude-adjusted to 2:02.27) was a lifetime best.

At the end of March, Town had a strong showing at Four Corners Spring Sectionals, clocking PBs in the 200 free (1:51.50), 1000 free (10:13.45), 1650 free (16:54.06), 200 fly (2:01.93), and 400 IM (4:16.66). Her 400 IM time was a 5.5-second improvement year-over-year.

Her long course season was equally productive, with PBs in the 50/100/200/400/800/1500 free, 50/100/200 back, 50/100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM. At Futures, the placed 6th in the 400 IM with a PB of 4:57.24. She was also an ‘A’ finalist in the 400 free (4th, 4:22.18) and 200 fly (8th, PB of 2:19.62) and a ‘B’ finalist in the 200 free (12th, PB of 2:05.67) and 200 IM (14th, 2:22.70).

Town wrapped up long course season at Summer Juniors in Irvine, where she took home new lifetime bests in the 400 free (4:21.01), 800 free (8:57.86), and 200 IM (2:21.85). She finaled in the 400 free and 400 IM and placed 23rd in the 800 free.

We considered her a “Best of the Rest” IMer and distance freestyler on our Way Too Early ranking of top girls’ swimmers in the high school class of 2027.

Best SCY times:

  • 400 IM – 4:16.67
  • 200 IM – 2:02.27
  • 500 free – 4:52.63
  • 1650 free – 16:54.06
  • 200 fly – 2:01.93

Town would have been Northwestern’s 2nd-fastest 400 IMer last season behind Hana Shimizu-Bowers (4:14.54). She would have been 5th in the 200 IM, 4th in the 500 free, and 3rd in the mile.
