2027 “Honorable Mention” Bryce Winzenread Announces Verbal Commitment to Indiana Hoosiers

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Bryce Winzenread from Lebanon, Tennessee, has made a verbal commitment to Indiana University for the 2027-28 school year.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University! I want to thank God, my parents, brothers, family, coaches and friends for all of their support. I am so grateful to the coaches at IU for this incredible opportunity! Go Hoosiers!❤️🤍”

Winzenread is heading into her junior year at Mount Juliet High School, where she is a Tennessee state champion in the 100 breast. She won the event at the 2025 TISCA State Championships in February with a PB of 1:01.47. She also earned a lifetime best in the 200 IM, placing 5th with 2:03.97. Those were huge improvements from only two months earlier when she had gone best times in the 100 breast (1:02.76), 200 breast (2:16.92), and 200 IM (2:07.90) at Winter Juniors East, swimming with her club team, Excel Aquatics.

Winzenread wasn’t done improving, though. At NCSA Spring Championships, she clocked PBs in the 50 breast (28.72), 100 breast (1:01.30), and 200 breast (2:13.24), coming in 5th in the 100 breast and 9th in the 50/200.

She kicked off long course season at U.S. Nationals with lifetime bests in the 50 breast (32.47), 100 breast (1:10.73), and 200 breast (2:37.74) and finaling in the 50 (26th) and 100 (27th). At Summer Junior Nationals in Irvine, she closed out the season with finals appearances in the 50 breast (20th) and 100 breast (18th) and took home a new PB in the 200 breast (2:37.57).

For all these exploits, we named her an “Honorable Mention” recruit on our Way Too Early list of top girls swimmers in the high school class of 2027.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 breast – 2:13.24
  • 100 breast – 1:01.30
  • 400 IM – 4:21.84
  • 200 IM – 2:03.97

Indiana has a well-deserved reputation for attracting and developing top-tier breaststrokers. The Hoosiers’ breaststroke group has boasted such names as Lilly King, Cody Miller, Ian Finnerty, Josh Matheny, Emily Weiss, Noelle Peplowski, Jassen Yep, and Finlay Brooks in recent years.
