Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sarah Juiris, a sprint freestyler out of Park Ridge, Illinois, will swim for Ohio State beginning in the 2026-2027 season. Juiris, a summer juniors qualifier and 2024 Scholastic All-American, is a rising senior at Maine South High School and represents FMC Aquatic Club in Westmont.

I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The Ohio State University!! ❤️🤍 I want to thank Coach Ignacio, Coach Bill, and the entire OSU staff for this incredible opportunity. I’d also like to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for supporting me. I can’t wait to be a part of this team! GO BUCKS!! 🌰

Juiris is the Illinois HS Girls State Championship runner up in 50 free (22.95) and was the 8th place finisher in the 100 free during her junior year (50.37), scoring 28 of Maine South’s 63 points. Both of Juiris’ times in finals were just slightly off the personal bests, as she hit 22.91 in the 50 and 50.21 in the 100 in prelims. She led Maine South to a 12th place finish in a field of 99 teams, also contributing splits of 22.85 in the 200 free relay and 49.99 in the 400 free relay.

At Futures in July, Juiris swam a PB of 26.45 leading off FMC’s 200 free relay and anchored the 200 medley relay home in 25.92. Individually, she hit times of 2:09.15 in the 200 free and 23.59 in the 50 fly, which were personal bests. She also swam a 1:04.76 in the 100 fly and 58.07 in the 100 free, which were season bests but off of her PBs of 1:03.39 and 57.48, respectively.

Best times (SCY):

  • 50 free: 22.91
  • 100 free: 50.21
  • 200 free: 1:51.62
  • 100 fly: 56.06

Ohio State won the 2025 Women’s Big Ten Championships after securing 2nd place behind Indiana the previous season. The Buckeyes were led by IMers Krista Marlin and Sienna Angove and won primarily due to depth. They had no sprint freestylers in their top 5 scorers, and while Juiris is not yet projected to score—it took times of 22.55/49.60 in the 50/100—she will deepen their sprint free group; her 50 free would have ranked 7th and 9th on their roster last season. Adding sprinting is crucial for OSU, as they graduated two of their top sprinters in Teresa Ivan and Nyah Funderburke this spring.

The Buckeyes’ class of 2030 currently consists of Juiris, ‘HM’ butterflier Anna Shnowske, backstroke/IMer Macie McCarter, and fly/back specialist Chloe Cappola. Shnowske has been 22.9/49.4 in the 50/100 frees, giving Juiris a sprint free training partner in her class.
