The United States Naval Academy has been hot out of the recruiting gates this year, picking up three verbal commitments for the high school class of 2027 and it isn’t even September yet, adding a commitment from Summer Juniors finalist Ryan Baldwin.
Baldwin told SwimSwam that he “absolutely loved the school and all the coaches, stoked to serve my country and continue my academic and athletic careers at such a great school. GO NAVY!”
Baldwin is a butterfly specialist from New York who trains with Long Island Aquatic Club. He recently finished 32nd in the 200 fly at the 2025 Summer Juniors, touching in 2:05.87. He also swam the 100 fly (58th – 55.88), and the 50 fly (109th – 26.19).
He will be a junior at Oceanside Senior High School this year, where he is a member of the swim team. At the Boys State Championships in March, he finished 2nd in the 100 fly (48.68), and 3rd in the 500 free (4:31.23). He was also a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American last year.

Navy was 2nd at the Patriot League Championships last season, coming in just over 15 points behind their rival Army West Point.
Baldwin would have been just outside the top four in all three of his best events on last season’s Navy team, but he has two full years left in high school, and seven months in college before his first Patriot League Championships. He saw strong improvements last year, dropping two seconds in his 100 fly, just over a second and a half in his 200 fly, and two seconds in his 500 freestyle.
He will join Parker Efird and Alexander Jungbluth on campus in 2027. Jungbluth is also a butterfly, coming in just behind Baldwin at 48.84 and 1:48.53, and Efird swims the backstroke events.
