Vermont Swimming and Diving Announces Captains for 2025-26 Campaign

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont Swimming and Diving announced their tri-captains for the upcoming 2025-26 season. A trio of seniors Nanna AtakeAutumn Bullinger and Emma Wainwright will lead the squad.

“I am looking forward to working with these strong student-athletes this season,” said Head Coach Gerry Cournoyer. “Each of them brings a unique strength to their role that will help lead our program through a competitive and successful year.”

Atake, received the program’s Most Improved Diver award at the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign. At the 2025 America East Championships she placed 21st overall in the 1m and 3m. She finished third overall in the 1m and 3m against Siena on Jan. 11. She also posted a career-high in the 1m with a score of 235.58 on Jan. 18 against URI.

Bullinger posted personal bests in the 200 Back (2:04.07) and 200 IM (2:10.72) at the 2025 America East Championships. She won three individual races during the 2024-25 campaign. Against Merrimack on Oct. 19 she claimed the 200 and 100 Back. Then on Jan. 11 she won the 100 Back again against Siena.

Wainwright was a finalist in the 100 and 200 Back at the 2024 America East Championships helping propel UVM to its first-ever America East Championship. She set personal bests in each event. During the 2024-25 campaign she earned five top-10 finishes for Vermont.

UVM’s campaign begins on Sept. 21 at the CCSU Open Water Festival at Lake Terramuggus in Marlborough, Conn. Select student-athletes will compete at this event.

As a part of UVM Weekend the team will be hosting an Alumni gathering at Four Quarters Brewing (70 Main St, Winooski) on Saturday, Sep. 27 from 6-8:30 p.m. Register today at go.uvm.edu/swimalum.

Vermont will host UNH in a battle of the last two America East Champions on Saturday, October 18 from Forbush Natatorium. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m. There will be a post-meet tailgate for the team and families.
