German National Team member Sophie Lenze commits to Miami (FL) for 2025

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Two-time European Junior Championships qualifier Sophie Lenze has committed to study and swim at the University of Miami (FL) for 2025.

“Couldn’t be happier to be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Miami! Thank you to everyone who has helped me get here. Huge thanks to coaches Andy, Zach and Emma and to the team for making me feel so welcome. Go Canes!”

At the 2024 European Aquatics Junior Championships (LCM), Lenze finished 11th in prelims in the 400 free, touching at 4:17.92. Her 200 breast was 13th in the prelims at 2:32.96; she rounded out her individual events in the 400 IM with an 18th-place prelim swim of 4:58.73.

Lenze swims for Schwimmverein Nikar Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany, and holds dual citizenship between Germany and the United States.

The Hurricanes of Miami compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference, where the women finished 10th overall out of 15 teams. Improving a spot from 2024, where they finished 11th.

Based on Miami’s top performers from the 2024-2025 season, Lenze’s converted times would have made her the 2nd fastest performer for the Hurricanes in both the 500 free and 200 breast. Her 200 free conversion slots her as the 5th quickest performer from last season, with her 200 IM sitting as the 3rd fastest in comparison.

Based on results from last season’s ACC Swimming and Diving Championships, Lenze would have finished 51st in the 200 free, 48th in the 200 IM, and 19th in the 500 free, just missing the B-final by .75 seconds.

The Hurricanes add Lenze to a talented 2025 recruiting class that features Zofia Sobczak, Brooke Murphy, Addy Vonderahe, and Phoebe Mayo.
