Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Louis Joos from Jacksonville, Florida, has announced his verbal commitment to the admission process* at Yale University.
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Yale University! I would like to give glory to God and thank my family, coaches, and teammates for supporting me along the way. I am grateful to the coaches at @yaleswimdive for giving me the opportunity to swim and study at Yale. Go Bulldogs! 🐶 #boolaboola”
Joos is a rising senior at Bolles School. He swims year-round with the Bolles School Sharks. We considered him one of the top recruits in the cohort when we named him to the Honorable Mention section on our Way Too Early list of top 20 boys from the high school class of 2026. At the time, he had the leading 200 breast time in the class (1:59.64) and a 56.02 in the 100. In the last year, he has dropped 1.6 seconds in the 200 breast and 1.2 in the 100. Two years ago he went 2:04.93/57.27 in the two events.
As a junior at the 2024 FHSAA Class 1A State Championships, Joos placed 3rd in the 200 IM (1:49.88) and 3rd in the 100 breast (55.95), clocking PBs in both events in prelims. A month later at Winter Juniors East, he lowered his PBs in the 100 breast (54.84), 200 breast (1:58.02), and 200 IM (1:49.10), and was just off his best time in the 400 IM (3:58.11). He placed 12th in the 200 breast and 23rd in the 100 breast.
Joos kicked off the 2025 long course season with lifetime bests in the 50 breast (29.20), 100 breast (1:03.94), and 200 breast (2:18.70) at PSS Westmont. He was 8th in the 200 breast, 12th in the 100, 13th in the 50, and 21st in the 200 IM. He lowered his PB in the 200 breast to 2:18.39 at U.S. Nationals, thus earning a spot in the 18U final. At the Bolles TYR June Classic, he earned new lifetime bests in the LCM 100 free (55.17), 200 free (2:01.93), and 100 fly (58.42).
Joos will join Turkey’s Burak Iloglu in the Yale men’s class of 2030. His best times would already score at the Ivy League Men’s Championships in the ‘C’ finals of the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 400 IM. It took 1:47.49 in the 200 IM to get a second swim. Yale’s Charlie Egeland (6th in the 100 breast, 8th in the 200 breast, and 16th in the 200 IM) will be a senior when Joos arrives in New Haven.
Joos will be the second sibling to swim in the NCAA; his older sister, Sophia Joos, a freshman at Emory this season, competed in the 100/200 breast at 2025 NCAA Division III Championships and placed 16th in the 200.
Best SCY times:
- 200 breast – 1:58.02
- 100 breast – 54.84
- 200 IM – 1:49.10
- 400 IM – 3:57.07
- 200 fly – 1:52.82
*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
