For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Sectionals finalist Ansh Anand has announced his commitment to swim for Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas beginning in the fall of 2025.
“I’m proud to announce my commitment to Ouachita Baptist University. As soon as I got to Ouachita, I felt like I was home and I belonged here. I already felt like I was part of the team after my first visit. I love the passion that these swimmers have; they are tenacious, fearless and hungry! I look forward to being a part of history yet to be written with OBU. I would like to thank my family, my friends, and my coaches for supporting me throughout this journey, as well as Coach Bostick and Coach Dawson for giving me this opportunity to swim at the next level. Go Tigersharks!!!”
The Texas native recently graduated from Memorial High School in Frisco, where he was a member of the varsity swimming and diving team all four years. He currently trains year-round with Metroplex Aquatics and primarily specializes in mid-distance and distance freestyle as well as some butterfly.
At the North Texas COPS 43rd Annual Greater Southwest meet in January, Anand turned in a series of strong performances, including six personal best times. He won the 1000 free in a lifetime best time of 10:09.83 and turned in a 10th-place finish in the 500 free in 4:51.97 after setting a best time of 4:46.99 during prelims. Anand also placed 13th in the 200 fly (1:59.76), 18th in the 200 free (1:50.49) and 21st in the 400 IM (4:28.45), setting new best times in each event.
Anand made significant improvements in his freestyle events over the 2024-2025 season. He came into the start of the season with best times of 52.66/1:51.77/4:53.45 in the 100/200/500 free and finished the season with new lifetime bests in all three events. Anand dropped down to 52.41 in the 100 free, 1:48.50 in the 200 free and 4:46.99 in the 500 free.
Anand competed at the 2024 Speedo Sectionals (LCM) in Iowa City last March, where he placed 20th in the 1500 free in a personal best time of 17:23.15 and earned a second swim in the 200 fly, finishing 31st in 2:23.01. He also raced the 400 free (4:25.91 – PB) and 100 fly (1:05.80) and set a new best time in the 100 free (59.21) as the lead-off on his team’s 400 free relay.

A Division II program, OBU competes in the New South Conference; the men’s team won the 2025 New South Championships, jumping up from their 3rd-place finish the year before. Based on the results from this past season’s championship, Anand would have landed in the ‘B’ final in the 500 free and 200 fly and would have placed 9th in the 1650 free, setting him up to be a strong contributor right from the start.
Set to join Anand in Arkadelphia this fall are Franco Vega, Simeon Prosinski, Jeronimo Quintero, Lucas Cagle, Chandler Garret, Evan Wilkerson, Carson Gillum, Brayden Miller and Brody Hutchins, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
