Isaiah Lewis, Son of 1999 NCAA Title Team Co-Captain Beth, Verbally Commits to Georgia (2026)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Isaiah Lewis, a Georgia High School 4A-5A State Champion in the 50 free, has decided to stay in-state and verbally commit to the University of Georgia for the fall of 2026. Lewis was primarily a summer league swimmer until July 2022, when he joined Dynamo Swim Club. He currently attends Decatur High School, where he also competes on the varsity lacrosse and basketball teams.

By committing to UGA, Lewis will continue a family tradition. His mother, Beth Timmons, swam for UGA and was co-captain of the team’s first national championship team in 1999. She was also a walk-on member of UGA’s 2000 Elite 8 basketball team. His father, Jeremy, played football for UGA.

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Georgia! Huge thanks to all of my coaches, teammates, family, and friends for supporting me along the way. Another big thanks to the entire UGA staff for this amazing opportunity! Go Dawgs!!!”

Lewis shows strength in sprint freestyle events. He was a two-time runner-up at the 2025 GHSA 5A State Championships (SCY) in February, finishing 2nd in both the 50 free (20.81) and 100 free (45.99). His 50 free time remains his lifetime best. The previous year, Lewis won the 50 free (21.21) at the 2024 GHSA 4A-5A State Championships. At that time, 1A represented Georgia’s smallest schools, while 7A was the largest. As of 2025, 6A is now the largest.

In late February/early March, Lewis earned several personal bests at the 2025 Speedo Southern Premier (SCY). He posted his best 100 free time of 45.73 as the leadoff swimmer for his team’s 400 free relay, which qualifies him for the 2025 Futures Championship in Madison. He also recorded personal bests in the 200 free (1:43.17), 100 back (51.09), 200 back (1:54.55), and 100 fly (51.44).

At the meet, Lewis earned second swims in five events. He placed 10th in the 50 free (20.89), 7th in the 100 free (46.12), 19th in the 100 back (51.10), 32nd in the 200 back (1:56.37), and 24th in the 100 fly (52.65).

  • 50 Free – 20.81
  • 100 Free – 45.73

  • 100 Fly – 51.44
  • 100 Back – 51.09

UGA placed 4th at the 2025 SEC Championships, with Texas now in the conference. The previous year, they had finished 3rd. Lewis still has another year to continue improving and has the potential to strengthen UGA’s sprint freestyle group. So far this season, the fastest 50 free time (19.33) belongs to freshman Tane Bidois, while the fastest 100 free time (41.92) belongs to senior and Paris Olympian Luca Urlando.

Lewis will join Sam Lofstrom as part of Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class. Lofstrom also holds strong times in the 50 free (19.93) and 100 free (44.91).

If SEC stays at 22 roster limit, what are the chances this kid can make it?
