Tulane Women Defeat West Florida 159-83 On Senior Day

New Orleans – The Tulane swimming and diving team won all 13 events, totaled 22 top three individual finishes and achieved a Zone qualifying diving mark in earning a 159-83 Senior Day victory over West Florida on Saturday at the Reily Center Natatorium.  The program had two individual multi-event winners on the afternoon.

Andrea Zeebe won a pair of events with victories in the 200 free (1:52.67) and the 100 back (56.53).

Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou earned wins in the 1000 free (10:15.55) and the 100 butterfly (57.34).

Anna Behrman won the 3-meter dive with a personal best point total (276.60). Her teammate, Paige McKenzie, won the 1-meter with a Zone qualifying total of 270.30.

The 200 medley relay team of Zeebe, Emma BradyMaya Wilson and Catherine Russo started the swimming portion of the day with an event victory (1:43.44).

Olcaytu Hatipoglu earned the 50 free victory (23.90).

Gwen Shahboz picked up the 200 IM win (2:06.55)

Russo won the 100 free (51.83).

Sydney Mullin was the victor in the 500 free (5:01.44).

Paula Gaya Bisquerra earned the 100 breast victory (1:04.84).

The 200 free relay team of Russo, Hatipoglu, Lise Coetzee and Wilson finished the competition for Tulane by winning their event (1:35.03).

Nest Tulane heads to the 2025 AAC Swimming Championship held from Feb. 19-22 in Dallas, Texas at SMU.

New Orleans, LA – The University of West Florida Swimming and Diving team finished their final dual meet in New Orleans as they faced Division 1 Tulane. More details are below.

Diving:

The meet kicked off with the 3-meter diving, where UWF’s Olivia Nelson finished in fifth place with a score of 230.70, earning valuable points for her team. Gabby McDougall followed in eighth place with 185.93.

In the 1-meter diving, UWF’s Nelson secured third with 262.13, while McDougall finished in sixth place with 233.70. Both divers showed solid efforts.


Swimming:

200 Yard Medley Relay UWF’s A-team of Gigi Gottaas, Alena RozovaEmily O’Connell, and Sydney Lewis finished second with a time of 1:45.43, narrowly missing first place to Tulane.

1000 Yard Freestyle UWF’s Sofia Kendzior finished in third place with a time of 10:29.39, while Tori Johnston placed fourth at 10:38.98. Both swimmers gave solid performances in a competitive field. Caroline Dimig also contributed with a fifth-place finish at 10:42.64.

200 Yard Freestyle Riley MacVane came in second with a time of 1:54.36, while Olivia Copland placed fourth in 1:55.84. Ellie Dimig finished sixth in 1:58.10.

50 Yard Freestyle In the sprint, Sydney Lewis finished third with 24.23, while Alena Rozova placed fourth at 24.59. Patterson Aimee rounded out the field in fifth with 24.68.

200 Yard IM UWF’s Shannah Dillman placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.46, while Ellie Rothfuss finished third in 2:10.23. Sam Packard came in fourth with 2:13.58.

100 Yard Butterfly Emily O’Connell finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.85, while Sydney Hartis took third in 58.32. Olivia Copland finished fourth with 59.52.

100 Yard Freestyle Sofia Kendzior came in second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.26, followed by Olcaytu Hatipoglu in third at 52.42. Patterson Aimee placed fourth in 54.16, and Caroline Dimig was fifth in 54.55.

100 Yard Backstroke Gigi Gotaas placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.47, followed closely by Ruby Nussbaum in fourth at 59.53. Amanda Serger finished fifth in 1:00.94, and Amber Ewald took seventh at 1:02.67.

500 Yard Freestyle In the 500 freestyle, Riley MacVane posted a solid second-place finish with a time of 5:04.83, while Tori Johnston came in third at 5:11.27. Shannah Dillman finished fifth in 5:15.86, and Sara Lypko was sixth with 5:27.63.


Relay Events:

200 Yard Freestyle Relay UWF’s team consisting of Sofia KendziorAimee PattersonEmily O’Connell, and Sydney Lewis finished in second place with a time of 1:36.45.


Overall Results:

While UWF showed strong individual efforts, particularly from Kendzior, MacVane, and Nelson, Tulane’s depth and powerful performances in relays and key individual events led them to victory. UWF finished with 118 points, securing second place in a hard-fought meet.
