The Monmouth College swim teams swept Millikin on the road Saturday as the men won 115-62 and the women won 92-91. The women have won two weeks in a row after beating IC last weekend.
“We had a lot of solid swims today and Lea pulled off a PR in the 100 breast,” said head coach Jake Dacus. “It was a fun day in the pool and the women winning by one is definitely the highlight of the weekend.”
WOMEN
Lea Schmitt (Rockford, Illinois) won the 100 breaststroke with a new PR time of 1:12.48. Emily Davis (Beloit, Wisconsin) was third in 1:25.27. The race, the last individual one of the day, clinched the win for the Scots with Schmitt earning nine points and Davis picking up three.
Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 50 free in 26.45 with Schmitt in fourth at 30.73. She also won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.90 with Aiden Bach (Stetsonville, Wisconsin) in third at 1:11.63.
Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois) won the 200 IM in 2:25.12 with Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois) in fourth in 2:34.18.
Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana) took second in the 100 free with a time of 1:01.55 and Isabel Lynch (Rock Island, Illinois) took fifth in 1:08.66
Caitlyn Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) took second in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.78. She was also second in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.24 .
Fitch won the 1000 yard freestyle in 12:06.11 while Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois) was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:57.51.
The women’s 200 yard medley relay team of Tate, Schmidtt, Stewart and LaBadie won by four seconds in 1:58.56. The 200 freestyle relay of LaBadie, Fitch, Smith and Warren took second in 1:49.74
MEN
Tariq McLarty (South Holland, Illinois) won the 50 freestyle in 22.19 with Calvin Wellman (San Antonio, Texas) in fourth at 25.74 and Jaydon Wilbon (Crown Point, Indiana) in fifth at 26.60.
McLarty also won the 100 fly in 53.44 with Eli Wills (Blue Springs, Missouri) in third at 59.64 and Wilbon took fifth in 1:13.10. Wills won the 500 freestyle in 5:29.32
Kody Coyne (Bluffton, Indiana) won the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.93 while Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) took third in 2:19.23. Coyne also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.00 with Main in third at 1:07.71.
Tristan Kennon (Flossmoor, Illinois) won the 100 freestyle in 51.75 with Wellman second in 56.93. Kennon was second in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.56 with Bridgford in fourth at 2:03.56.
Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.34 with Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai’i) in third at 1:04.10. Bridgford was second in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.80.
Jaeden Peters (Greenfield, Indiana) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 12:28.40.
The men’s 200 freestyle relay team of Foster, Main, Bridgford and McLarty won in 1:35.67 The men’s 200 medley relay team of Foster, Coyne, Wills and Kennon won in 1:44.95.
The Scots are back in action next weekend with the mid-season meet at Beloit on Friday and Saturday. They will face Millikin again at home on Jan. 24.

The Millikin swim team honored their 2024-25 seniors on Saturday, November 16 at the Decatur Family YMCA during their dual meet against Monmouth College. The Big Blue fell by a narrow margin in the women’s competition 91-92, and on the men’s side, MU was bested by Monmouth 62-115.
The all-senior team of Grace Meacham, Kendall Rossignol, Aly Barnes, and Erin Powell placed second in the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:02.25. The combination of Dawsen Loafman, Jacob Bloom, Gavin Dobson, and Msanaa Bosland swam a 1:46.62 in the men’s race to place second.
Karson Bluette placed second by just over a second in the 1000 yard freestyle, swimming a 12:07.54.
Barnes was the winner of the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.29. Bosland took the crown in the men’s race, swimming a 1:53.65.
Yoanna Barajas placed second in the 50 yard freestyle, and Meacham placed third. On the men’s side, Loafman placed second and Dobson was third.
Ridge Batchelor placed second in the men’s 200 yard IM in a time of 2:17.88.
Barnes picked up her second individual victory of the day in the 100 yard butterfly, swimming a 1:04.63 to take the top spot. Dobson was second in the men’s race in 58.97.
Powell won the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 1:00.31. Anjaleah Knowles took second in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.97. Loafman won the men’s race in 59.84 seconds.
Brenna Pacheco won the women’s 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:49.94. Aaron Amaya placed second in the men’s race in 5:37.39.
Rossignol placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke race in 1:20.44. Bosland was second in the men’s race in 1:06.40.
Rounding out the meet, the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Powell, Pacheco, Barajas, and Knowles won the race in their time of 1:48.78.
The Big Blue swim teams will be back in action on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 at the Wheaton Invite in Wheaton, Ill.
