LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Navy swimming and diving teams combined for 26 events wins as each program posted victories over American, Bucknell and Lafayette, Saturday at Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa.

The men’s team (8-2) won all 16 events to defeat American (2-6), 183-100, Bucknell (2-2), 172-117, and Lafayette (2-3), 185-104.  The women’s team (7-3) earned 10 event wins to top the Eagles (3-5), 217-77, the Bison (3-1), 161-134, and the Leopards (0-5), 222-73.

“Today was an important competition for our program,” said Navy men’s swimming head coach Bill Roberts.  “For starters, it was fun to compete on the road since we have been at home for most of the semester.  Similar to last week, I thought the team did a terrific job coming off of a tough week of training and preparation and still raced and competed very well today.”

“Thank you to Bucknell and their staff for hosting a great meet,” said Navy women’s swimming head coach John Morrison.  “It was fun to compete against three league teams in this year’s championship pool.  Overall, we saw some strong improvements in racing.  We are in a good spot heading into our fall invitational in two weeks.”

Women’s Meet
Caroline Irwin and Lauren Walsh each won three events during the meet.  Irwin was part of both relay event victories and also won the 100 fly in a time of 55.71.  Walsh joined Irwin in winning the 200 medley relay and also won both breaststroke races.  She recorded times of 1:02.99 in the 100 event and 2:16.48 in the 200 race.

Completing the list of event winners was Jennifer Luong, who won the 50 free (24.18).

“Lauren had two great wins and the whole breaststroke corps proved their prowess,” said Morrison.  “Caroline had a good meet in the fly events.  Mackenzkie led the way in diving with putting up some big points on the board.”

Today’s performances set the stage for a great Lafayette vs, Lehigh dual meet.”
