Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Rex Maurer, Texas
Texas’ Rex Maurer, a sophomore from Pasadena, Calif., secured four podium finishes in the win over No. 4 Indiana. Maurer recorded the fastest times in the nation this season to win the 500 free (4:11.20) and the 400 IM (3:40.90). He also finished second in the 200 free with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:32.13, the second fastest time in the nation, and third in the 1000 free with a time of 8:44.62, the fourth best time in the nation this season.
Men’s Diver of the Week: Leonardo Garcia, Texas A&M
Texas A&M’s Leonardo Garcia, a graduate student from Cali, Columbia, won both springboard events in the win at Missouri. Garcia recorded season-high scores of 371.10 on the 1-meter and 415.80 to take the top spot in both events.
Men’s Freshman of the Week: Landon D’Ariano, Texas
Texas’ Landon D’Ariano, a freshman from West Chester, Pa., swam in both individual medley events in the win over No. 4 Indiana. D’Ariano was a part of Texas’ sweep of the first four places in the 400 IM, taking third with an NCAA B-cut time of 3:44.86, the seventh fastest time in the nation. He also took sixth place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:46.00, the 22nd best time nationally.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Jillian Cox, Texas
Texas’ Jillian Cox, a redshirt-freshman from Cedar Park, Texas, led the way in the distance events in the win over No. 6 Indiana. Cox posted the fastest time in the nation to win the 500 free with an NCAA A-cut time of 4:34.41, marking the second consecutive meet she broke the program record in the event. She also won the 1000 free with a time of 9:29.66, also the fastest time in the nation this season.
Women’s Co-Divers of the Week: Maria Jose Sanchez, Arkansas and Camyla Monroy, Florida
Arkansas’ Maria Jose Sanchez, a freshman from Mexico City, earned three podium finishes in the double dual meet against SMU and TCU. Sanchez took first place on platform with a final score of 319.75, breaking the school record in the event by 22 points. She also finished first on the 3-meter (345.60) and third on the 1-meter (305.00) to help the Razorbacks win the team diving event.
Florida’s Camyla Monroy, a sophomore from Laz Paz, Mexico, swept the springboard events in the win at No. 10 Georgia. Monroy scored a 296.03 on the 1-meter and a career-high 361.43 on the 3-meter to remain undefeated this season.
Women’s Freshman of the Week: Piper Enge, Texas
Texas’ Piper Enge, a freshman from Mercer Island, Wash., won two individual events and was a part of two winning relays in the win over No. 6 Indiana. Enge swept the breaststroke events win NCAA B-cut times of 59.26 in the 100 and 2:09.27 in the 200, both the fifth fastest times in the nation. She also swam the second leg of both the 200 medley relay, which posted the second best time nationally with an NCAA A-cut time of 1:34.72, and the 400 medley relay, which registered the fastest time in the nation this season with an NCAA A-cut time of 3:27.98.
