Position: Part-Time Assistant Coach

Compensation: Starting at $22+/hr based on experience. At least 12 hours per week during the
short course season, with the possibility of more.

Reports To: Site Lead Coach

Position Overview: Under the direction of the Site Lead Coach, the Part-Time Assistant Coach
is responsible for playing a key role in supporting the development and success of swimmers
within the age group program. You will collaborate closely with the Site Lead Coach to plan and
execute training sessions, monitor athlete progress, and create a positive and motivating
atmosphere for swimmers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation:
    • Work with the Site Lead Coach and assistant coaches to implement seasonal,
      weekly, and daily workout plans.
    • Track and evaluate the progress of swimmers within the age group program and
      specific training groups
  • Team Culture:
    • Model and celebrate the club’s values and behaviors.
    • Work collaboratively and respectfully with other club leaders and staff.
    • Apply positive, consistent, and effective motivation strategies with swimmers,
      parents, and coaching staff.
    • Foster team spirit and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Swimmer Development:
    • Identify individual strengths, areas for improvement, and goal-setting strategies.
    • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with swimmers, their parents, and
      training groups.
    • Conduct swim team evaluations for prospective athletes.
    • Communicate effectively with swimmers and parents regarding performance,
      expectations, and progress.
  • Meet Participation:
    • Encourage swimmers to attend and actively participate in swim meets.
    • Provide on-deck coaching support at swim meets as requested.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Attend regular staff meetings and contribute to the overall development of the
      aquatic program.
    • Maintain valid USA Swimming coaching certifications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in competitive swimming (preferably with age group
    swimmers).
  • Understanding of swimming techniques, training principles, and competition strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, parents, and swimmers.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about the development of young athletes.
  • Current certifications in USA Swimming required certifications: CPR, Safety Training for
    Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion Protocol Training, Background Check,
    Coaches Advantage Training, Foundations of Coaching, MAAPP 2.0, or the ability to
    obtain such certifications.
