(NLI Photos) Three Piranhas Sign Letters of Intent

Three young women from the Piranhas Swim Team in Palm Springs, California signed National Letters of Intent today.

Seen in the picture above are (left to right) Kat Wickham, Alexa Wasserman, and Faith Travis.

Wickham will head to Utah. She’s the reigning CIF Southern Section Champion in the 200 free with a 1:50.36. She’s primarily a middle-to-distance swimmer, but has split as fast as a 23-mid on a 200 yard medley relay. Read more about her commitment here.

Wasserman, headed to Oregon State, is another solid middle distance swimmer. She’s been 1:55.6 and 5:22.0 in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles.

Travis, who is committed to the Gauchos of UC – Santa Barbara, has some versatility. She too, no surprise, is a good middle-distance swimmer, with yards bests of 1:55.5 and 5:04.7. But she is also a 56.4 100 yard backstroker and a 57.0 100 butterflier.

Jeff Conwell is the head coach of the Piranhas.

Congratulations to these fine young ladies – happy to see them stay consistent with all the changes. As we all know “Change is inevitable, growth is optional” and they chose to learn from different coaches & can move forward knowing themselves better as making improvement at the college level is about communication & continuing to find ways to become better as a swimmer & person.

The three girls have been on the Piranha Swim Team for around 10 years through four head coaching changes, four teams splintering off from the club, and all the other ups and downs that come with club swimming and teenage girls. Sometimes
