South Carolina Scores Again; Keeps In-State Stud at Home

Travis Morrin from the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina has verbally committed to his home-state Gamecocks.

Morrin is primarily a middle-to-distance freestyler, with bests of 4:30.78 in the 500, 9:23.00 in the 1000, and 15:37.51 in the mile.

He’ll join a distance group that the Gamecocks have really been working on in recruiting over the last few years; in their 2012-2013 season, their top two milers were both freshmen, including 16th-place finisher at SEC’s Marwan El Kamash, who was a 15:19.58 (though, some of the more veteran South Carolina swimmers didn’t have their best seasons as seniors).

The South Carolina men have also added Bryce Kananowicz, a 4:32 500 freestyler,

Morrin didn’t swim at this year’s South Carolina State Championship meet, and trains with the same Mount Pleasant Swim Club as Georgia commit Megan Kingsley.

The University of South Carolina is one of only two Division I men’s programs in the state of South Carolina (College of Charleston being the other).
