The Towson University women’s swimming and diving team opened the 2013-14 season with a resounding victory at the Potomac Relays Friday at American University, setting six meet records en route to the win.
The Tigers scored 122 points while George Mason (86 points) and George Washington (64) finished second and third, respectively.
Towson set meet records in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.87), the 500-yard freestyle relay (4:38.38), the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:34.54), the 300-yard butterfly relay (2:51.27), the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.33) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:58.69) as part of the victory, encouraging Towson Head Coach Pat Mead.
“We had some very good performances from Jenna Van Camp and Macey Arnold today,” he said. “The meet records were certainly a highlight.”
Van Camp, a sophomore, was on the winning 300-yard breaststroke relay and the 200-yard medley relay.
Making her collegiate debut, Arnold impressed in the 500- and 800-yard freestyle relays.
In addition, junior diver Lyndsey Dickson was tremendous on the one- and three-meter diving boards, taking home first place in each event.
The Tigers continue their season Saturday, Oct. 12, hosting Hood College and Howard University at Burdick Pool beginning at 1 p.m.
