Petrashov, Stokowski, Albiero & MacCausland Named ACC Co-Swimmers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Kacper Stokowski and Louisville’s Denis Petrashov were named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Men’s Swimmers of the week, while the Wolpack’s Heather MacCausland and the Cardinals’ Gabi Albiero were selected Co-Women’s Swimmers of the Week. North Carolina divers Anton Down-Jenkins and Aranza Vazquez swept the ACC Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week, respectively.

ACC MEN’S CO-SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Denis Petrashov, Louisville, So., Bishteck, Kyrgystan 
Petrashov swept the breaststroke events in No. 17 Louisville’s meets against No. 7 Indiana and Cincinnati. Earning five NCAA “B” times over the weekend, the sophomore placed first in the 100 breast (53.60), 200 breast (1:57.00) and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:26.50) versus the Hoosiers while adding two more wins in the 100 breast (53.87) and 200 breast (1:57.38) against the Bearcats.

Kacper Stokowski, NC State, Sr., Warsaw, Poland
Stokowski tallied four individual podium finishes for the No. 4 Wolfpack against No. 5 Texas along with three relay podium finishes to accompany five NCAA zone qualifying times. The Warsaw, Poland, native swam a 1:41.39 first-place finish in the 200 back, while adding another win in the 100 back (45.63). He finished third in a podium sweep of the 100 fly with the seventh fastest time in the ACC, 46.20. The senior swam a 20.79 backstroke leg in the first-place 200 medley relay to secure the fastest time in program history and third fastest time in the country with a 1:22.73. Stokowski’s 44.79 backstroke leg of the winning 400 medley relay (3:04.22) is the fastest in the country.

ACC WOMEN’S CO-SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Gabi Albiero, Louisville, Jr., Louisville, Ky.
Albiero six first place finishes for the sixth-ranked Cardinals who faced No. 9 Indiana and Cincinnati. Earning four NCAA “B” times in her individual events, the junior finished atop the podium in a Louisville sweep of the 50 free (22.41) and the 100 free (48.92) against Indiana, as well as the 100 free (48.92) and with a pool record in the 100 fly against Cincinnati (51.40). Against the Hoosiers, Louisville took the 200 free relay in 1:28.43 before securing another win in the 200 medley relay with their NCAA “A” qualifying time of 1:38.47.

Heather MacCausland, NC State, Sr., Downington, Pennsylvania
MacCausland finished on the podium twice individually for the No. 4 Wolfpack who faced No. 2 Texas. The Downington, Pennsylvania, native earned two NCAA “B” times in the 100 breast with the third fastest time in the ACC this season, 58.29, and in the 200 breast with a personal best of 2:08.82. That time sits eighth fastest in the league. She was also part of the fastest 200 medley relay in the country that finished in 1:33.49 with the senior’s split of 25.76 on the breaststroke leg. Both first-place 200 and 400 medley relay squads earned NCAA “A” times. MacCausland helped contribute to another pair of NCAA “A” times in the 200 free and 400 free relays.

ACC MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Anton Down-Jenkins, North Carolina, Sr., Wellington, New Zealand
Down-Jenkins recorded another sweep of both diving events with two NCAA qualifying zone scores in North Carolina’s meet against Duke. The senior posted a 429.08 in the 3-meter – an event he has won every time he’s competed this season – beating the second-place finisher by over 84 points. He also added another first-place finish on the 1-meter with a 362.48.

ACC WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Aranza Vazquez, North Carolina, Sr., La Paz, Mexico

Vazquez swept the diving events in No. 18 North Carolina’s meet against No. 20 Duke, recording the highest score by an ACC diver this season with a 350.70 in the 1-meter dive. That score ranks highest in the NCAA, along with her 3-meter score of 391.05 that topped the event. Both dives qualified as NCAA zone scores.
