Florida Adds Big International Recruit for Fall of 2013

Before they turn the page fully to the class of 2014, the University of Florida has still been working this week on the swimmers who will join the program this fall, and they got a big international signing when the UK’s Georgia Hohmann committed to swim for the Gators.

Hohmann will become the third swimmer from Britain on the Gators’ roster along with Jess Thielmann and Dan Wallace.

Their newest signing is an elite backstroker, with long course bests of 1:01.65 and 2:09.61 in the 100 and 200, respectively. Those times both put her at a spot that should leave her close to immediate scoring at the NCAA Championships as a freshman.

Hohmann follows in the footsteps of another very good British backstroker who once swam at Florida: Gemma Spofforth. Hohmann is a former British Age Group National Champion.

She joins an already very deep Florida backstroke group that include Sinead Russell, Elizabeth Beisel and Ashlee Linn.
