Distance Swimmer Isabelle Gomez Commits to Reigning CCSA Champions Liberty

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Isabelle Gomez of Liberty Township, Ohio has announced her verbal commitment to Liberty University for the fall of 2022.

“I am beyond excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my Academic and Athletic career at Liberty University! I want to thank my family, my coaching staff at the Lakota Family YMCA, and my friends who have all given me endless support and helped me become who I am today!! Can’t wait to be a part of this incredible team! Go Flames!!”

Gomez attends Lakota East High School and swims for the Lakota Family YMCA. There, she is a multi-time YMCA Nationals Finalist, having made the A-final of the 800 freestyle, 1500 freestyle, and 400 IM at the last edition of the meet back in 2019. At the USA Swimming Futures Championship in Richmond, Gomez placed 5th overall in both the 800 and 1500 freestyle events.

Best Times SCY

  • 1000 freestyle – 10:14.64
  • 1650 freestyle – 16:53.69
  • 500 freestyle – 4:54.68
  • 200 freestyle – 1:54.35
  • 400 IM – 4:37.38

Gomez will be an immediate boost to the Liberty women’s distance group when she arrives on campus. Last season, Gomez’s best times in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle events would have been the fastest on Liberty’s roster by a wide margin. In addition, her 200 freestyle time would have ranked 4th on the roster, giving her the potential to be on Liberty’s 800 freestyle relay.

With her best times, Gomez will also be a threat on the conference level. At the 2021 CCSA Women’s Championships, Gomez would have placed 3rd overall with her personal best in the 1650 freestyle, she also would have placed 2nd in the 500 freestyle. In the 500 freestyle, Liberty had a strong contingent of Emma Hazel, Eva Suggs, and Arielle Arnett place 3rd-5th.

At those 2021 Championships, Liberty tied for the team title with Florida Gulf Coast, both teams scoring exactly 1749 points.

With her commitment, Gomez is set to join Eden Troxell, Ella Kahn, and Malia Francis in Liberty’s class of 2026.
