From 7:02 to 4:51 in the 500 in 2 Years, Colton Hollon Commits to Clarion

Colton Hollon, a 6-7” Eagle Scout with a 7’2” wingspan, has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Clarion University in the fall.

Hollon hails from Castroville, Texas where he attended Medina Valley High School. He is the first swimmer from MVHS to qualify for the Texas UIL 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships. In February, he won the 500 free at the 2021 UIL Region 8 Championship and was named Second Team All-State (5A).

Hollon swims club for Alamo Area Aquatic Association. He didn’t begin swimming year-round until May 2019, when he notched a lifetime best of 7:02 in the 500 free. Since then, he has dropped 2 minutes and 11 seconds. In addition to the vast improvement he has made in the 500, Hollon has dropped gobs of time in other events, too. From the USA Swimming database, here are some of his progressions:

Clarion men finished 5th at the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships. Hollon’s best times would have scored in the 200 free along with Ty Rabenstein, and in the 500 free with Rabenstein, Bobby Shotts, and Devon Lonergan. He will overlap two years with all three of them.

Hollon will join the Golden Eagles’ class of 2025 with Brenek Strawn, David Bocci, Joe Feiser, Jordan Kutchak, and Mason Irwin.
