IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine’s Danielle Ayala was named the Big West women’s water polo Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 17, the conference announced Wednesday.
This marks the first career weekly honor for Ayala and the second-straight for the ‘Eaters this season after Jensine Bugelli earned the award last week.
The senior led UCI with four points, two goals and two assists, in a narrow 12-7 loss to top-ranked USC. Ayala also drew an exclusion in the match.
She leads the Anteaters with six points on the season (three goals and three assists).
UCI has a 2-1 record on the year. The Anteaters announced they will play two games at SDSU on Saturday, Feb. 20. Game one will start at 1 p.m. followed by the second contest at 3 p.m.
