WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University swimming teams each defeated visiting Saint Peter’s on Saturday afternoon at Steadman Natatorium. The women’s team competed in a tri-meet with Long Island University, and the Sharks came away with the head-to-head win.
Callan Smith and Alexandra Ho each contributed three individual victories for their respective teams and were part of winning relay teams.
The men won 161-92 to improve to 7-2 on the year, while the women’s team moved to 6-5 after a 179-78 win over the Peacocks and a 151-110 loss to LIU.

– Sophomore Callan Smith won the 100 back (53.66), 200 back (1:58.92) and the 500 free (4:54.06), giving him 17 first-place finishes in 2019 and 48 for his career.
– Freshman Dylan Edge came in first place in the 1000 free (10:08.25) and the 200 fly (1:56.98) to increase his season wins total to 10.
– Freshman Blake Reynolds also added two first-place times in the 50 free (21.44) and the 100 fly (51.02). Reynolds has won 14 races during his rookie season.
– Sophomore Nate Heisey’s win in the 200 breast (2:12.07) was his second win of the year and the fourth of his career.
– Monmouth’s men won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:30.75 as Smith, Trevor Askew, Reynolds and Valance Washington contributed to the win.
– For the women’s team, freshman Alexandra Ho had three individual wins, placing first in the 50 free (24.99), 100 free (54.09) and 200 free (1:58.94). Ho has now won 13 races in her freshman season.
– Sophomore Camryn McHugh won the 100 fly (59.11) to increase her season wins total to 13. McHugh has 37 individual wins in her career.
– McHugh, Ho, Jaclyn Greening and Bradie Keelen took part in the winning 400-yard medley relay, clocking in at 4:03.37.

Monmouth will be back at Steadman Natatorium on Friday afternoon to host NJIT at 4 p.m. The men’s team will celebrate Senior Day prior to its final meet of the regular season.

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – In their first road meet of 2020, the Saint Peter’s University men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams competed against Monmouth, while the women’s side also faced off against LIU on Saturday in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

Top Performances
- In the 400 medley relay, Natalie Davis, Devyn Hantgin, Amelie Essmann and Efrat Marom clocked in at 4:14.85, putting them in third for the race.
- The quartet of Luke Cillie, Brian Coughlin, Martin Le Pays du Teilleul and Andrew Galarza finished third in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:35.53.
- Noah Berlin placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:13.87, and second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.42.
- Finishing first in the 200 yard freestyle, Galarza boasts a time of 1:46.56.
- In a close second place, Yann Le Gall clocked in at 1:46.15 in the 200 yard freestyle.
- Marom placed third in the 100 yard backstroke, with a time of 1:00.95.
- Winning the 100 yard breaststroke, Cillie clocked in at 58.57.
- Essmann and Alina Geck grabbed the top finishes in the 200 yard butterfly, with less than half a second time difference. The Peacocks clocked in at 2:16.22 and 2:16.52, respectively.
- Le Gall finished second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.09.
- In the 100 yard freestyle, Galarza and Le Gall took the top two finishes with times of 48.06 and 48.36, respectively.
- Finishing at 1:01.56, Essmann placed second in the 100 yard butterfly.
- Cillie posted a time of 52.08 in the 100 yard butterfly, putting him in second for the race.
- Alina Geck claimed a third place win in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:20.01.
- Le Pays du Teilleul and JT Funari won the 200 yard IM, taking the top two finishes for the race.
- In the 400 yard freestyle relay, Essmann, Hantgin, Noelle Sprenkle and Marom finished second, posting a time of 3:47.41
- Cillie, Le Gall, Galarza and Michael Spark boast a first place win in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:10.83.

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – In their first meet of 2020, the Long Island University women’s swim team had a strong showing, beating both Monmouth and Saint Peter’s handily. The Sharks defeated host Monmouth, 151-110, and beat Saint Peter’s, 185-73.
The Sharks opened up the day with one of the closest finishes of the meet. In the 400 medley relay, the LIU squad of Amanda Peren, Tara Cabiling, Jacqueline Grabowski and Noemie Lacroix-Moreau came in second, by just two hundredths of a second. Monmouth won the event in 4:03.37, with LIU hitting the wall in 4:03.39.
Distance free was a strong suit for the Sharks Saturday. Sophomore Maja Uduc won the 1000 free in 11:08.30, with sophomore Macie Madden coming in third in 11:20.49. LIU also had two of the top three finishers in the 500 free, as junior Emily Shoup won the event (5:27.58), and sophomore Mackenzie Burnett came in third in 5:37.49.
Junior Amanda Peren won the 100 back (58.13) in another close finish, beating her second place finisher by just five hundredths of a second. Peren also won the 200 back, but this time, by nearly five seconds, winning the even in 2:06.06. And in the 200 IM, Peren won by nearly 10 seconds, with a time of 2:09.96.
Freshman Tara Cabiling was another multiple winner for LIU, as she won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.06), while teammate Amanda San Juan took third (1:11.30). And Cabiling also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.43, as a part of a Shark sweep. Junior Kyleigh Barao and San Juan went 2-3, with times of 2:33.63 and 2:38.12.
Senior Noemie Lacroix-Moreau came in second in the 50 free with a time of 25.41. LIU also took second and third in the 200 free, with freshman Reyna Iwamoto in second (2:01.80) and Shoup in third (2:04.80). The Sharks also went 2-3 in the 100 free, with Jeanne Touchette-McGowan and San Juan coming in in 56.23 and 56.60 respectively.
And the Sharks capped the day by winning the last event of the meet, the 400 free relay, as Grabowski, Lydia Amon, Touchette-McGowan and Lacroix-Moreau won in 3:45.11.
Up next, the Sharks will head to Wagner for a Northeast Conference dual meet, Saturday, January 25 at 1 p.m.
