BATON ROUGE, La.  – The LSU Swimming and Diving team will welcome Tulane to the LSU Natatorium on Saturday, September 28 and will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT. The meet will feature only the Lady Tigers, and will serve as their first dual meet of the season.

IN THE POOL

The Tigers are coming off a very successful Purple vs. Gold Intrasquad that took place last Saturday at the Natatorium. Head Coach Dave Geyer is looking forward to seeing his squad in the first dual meet of the year.

“First dual meets are always tough,” said Geyer. “Tulane has some talented young swimmers but this will be their first time racing too. Everything we’ve spoken about with the team is taking the next step. Saturday is the next step for our women to really try to battle out a dual meet win early into our season.”

Two Lady Tigers, Helen Grossman and Jolee Liles, took home two victories in the meet last Saturday. Grossman won the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 52.27 and then won the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 54.81. Liles touched the wall first in both the 500-Yard Freestyle and the 200-Yard Butterfly with times of 4:55.65 and 2:03.52, respectively.

ON THE BOARDS

The trio of Aimee Wilson, Anne Tuxen, and Hayley Montague will be back in action for the Tigers after a productive Intrasquad last weekend. Wilson, the reigning SEC Female Co-Freshman Diver of the Year, won both the one-meter and three-meter springboard events during the event.

Head Diving Coach Doug Shaffer is looking for this weekend to be the first step into building towards championship season in February and March.

“This Saturday is the first competitive step in our season,” said Shaffer. “Everything we do here moving forward builds towards our championship season in February and March. At this point, our focus is staying true to our fundamentals and mechanics while going out and competing in our home pool.”
