Oakdale, Minnesota’s Mitchell Whyte has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Louisville’s class of 2022. Originally an Eastern Michigan commit, Whyte will now suit up with Colton Paulson, Hayden Curley, Kyle Worrell, and Tanner Cummings in the fall of 2018.
Whyte swims for North St. Paul High School and Mako Aquatics (formerly Hudson Area Swim Association). For about 24 hours in March, he was the Minnesota state record-holder in the 100 back after having dropped a personal-best 48.10 in prelims. He improved on that time by 3/10 in finals, going 47.84, and finished second to eventual state record-holder Jack Dahlgren. Whyte also took second in the 100 fly, going 48.97, his best time by 1.3 seconds.
A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Whyte won the 50 back (21.82) at the 2018 NCSA Spring Championship. At the same meet he placed third in the 100 back (47.76), 14th in the 200 back (1:46.77), 26th in the 50 fly (22.42), and 34th in the 100 fly (49.64). In 2017 he won the 100 back, 100 fly, and 200 fly at the Minnesota Swimming Senior State Championships. He competed in the 100/200 back and 100 fly at 2017 Summer Junior Nationals.

I hope we see more people from eastern that are able to go other places, since it was so last minute for them and the recuits had already commited
