Edwardsville YMCA Natalie Edwards Verbally Commits to Fighting Illini

Natalie Edwards, a senior at O’Fallon Township High School in O’Fallon, Illinois, verbally committed to the University of Illinois women’s swimming and diving team for 2017-18. Edwards swam the 500 free at the 2016 IHSA Girls State Championships last November, placing 40th in prelims. She also swam breaststroke on the Panthers’ 200 medley relay.

Edwards swims year-round for the Edwardsville YMCA, where she is a four-time YMCA SC Nationals qualifier, a four-time Speedo LC Sectionals qualifier and a Speedo SC Sectionals qualifier. She was named MVP of the OTHS girls’ team in 2016, and served as team co-captain as well. She was High Point winner in the 2015 season, and has been named school Athlete of the Week numerous times.

Edwards is also a three-year member of the OTHS National Honor Society, and a three-time OTHS Scholar Athlete. She is one of 10 Junior/Senior Ozark LSC Athlete Delegates to USA Swimming. Edwards plans to study business at Illinois, and plans to sign her NLI on April 12.

Edwards’ favorite events are IM, free, and back. Her top SCY times are:

  • 200 IM – 2:10.05
  • 200 free – 1:55.65
  • 100 back – 59.54
  • 200 back – 2:06.81
  • 100 breast – 1:08.60
