The Georgia swimming and diving teams will put their undefeated records on the line when they entertain Texas on Saturday.

Saturday’s meet will begin at 10:30 a.m. with men’s and women’s 1-meter diving, followed by the swimming portion and the SEC Network + broadcast at 11 a.m. Admission to Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center is free.

The Lady Bulldogs are 6-0 and the Bulldogs are 5-0 this season. In the most recent CSCAA polls, the Longhorns (3-3) are No. 2 and the Bulldogs are No. 7, while the Lady Bulldogs are No. 2 and the Texas women (8-1) are No. 5.

The Lady Bulldogs will be putting their streak of 103 consecutive victories at Gabrielsen Natatorium on the line. Georgia has not lost a dual meet at home since 1995.

“This will be fun to watch,” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “These are two quality programs that will be slugging it out for every point. There will be incredible racing and high-level diving. I expect both meets to go down to the last events. We’re excited about it and they’re excited about it. These are the kinds of meets you circle on the calendar and look forward to. It’s sort of like a football game in that we can’t afford any fumbles, any interceptions or any penalties.”

Georgia’s Olivia Smoliga has the nation’s top times in the 50 and 100 freestyle and she ranks sixth in the 100 backstroke. Chantal Van Landeghem stands fourth in the 50 freestyle and 10th in the 100 freestyle, while Stephanie Peters is No. 8 in the 500 freestyle and No. 10 in the 1,000 freestyle. Meryn McCann (500 freestyle), Veronica Burchill (100 butterfly), Chelsea Britt (200 butterfly), Megan Kingsley (200 butterfly) and Emily Cameron (400 individual medley) also have top-10 times.

The Lady Bulldogs are No. 1 in the 400 freestyle relay, No. 2 in the 200 freestyle relay and No. 3 in the 200 medley relay.

On the men’s side, Chase Kalisz is No. 1 in the 200 and 400 individual medley, No. 2 in the 200 butterfly, No. 3 in the 100 breaststroke and No. 7 in the 200 breaststroke. Jay Litherland is second in the 400 individual medley, eighth in the 200 freestyle and ninth in the 200 backstroke. Pace Clark ranks fourth in the 200 butterfly, while Kevin Litherland and Gunnar Bentz are No. 9 in the 500 freestyle and the 200 individual medley, respectively.

The Bulldogs have the No. 2 time in the 400 medley relay and the No. 3 time in the 800 freestyle relay.

The Texas women are coached by Carol Capitani, who spent 14 years on the Georgia staff before moving to Austin five seasons ago. Bauerle and Texas men’s coach Eddie Reese were the United States Olympics coaches in 2008.
