Ohio Freestyler Taylor Contino Commits to Michigan State University

Taylor Contino from Cincinnati, Ohio, has given her commitment to Michigan State University for the 2017-18 season.  “I am so excited to be a spartan next year! The team atmosphere and opportunities at Michigan State really stood out to me. I just fell in love with everything!” [sic]

Contino is a senior at Turpin High School in Cincinnati. She competed at the 2016 Southwest District Championships in the 50/100 free, and then in the Ohio State Division I Swimming and Diving Championships in the 200 medley and 400 free relays. She also competed at the state meet as a freshman and as a sophomore.

Contino swims year-round for the Anderson Barracudas YMCA. While she tends to specialize in sprints, she has a good range and can be an asset anywhere from the 50 to the 500.  Contino has been a YMCA National Qualifier for the past 6 seasons. Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.12
  • 100 free – 53.15
  • 200 free – 1:54.96
  • 500 free – 5:06.75
  • 100 back – 1:00.31

Contino will enter the Michigan State University class of 2021 with fellow commits Abbey Neveling, Erin Szara, Marie Dickson, Olivia Chick, and Victoria Postmus.
