Versatile Kevin Gu from Condors Swim Club Verbally Commits to Brown

New City, New York-native Kevin Gu has verbally committed to the application process at Brown University.*

“I chose Brown University because of their ability to produce excellent athletes and excellent scholars. Additionally the bond that the team and coaches have formed is unparalleled by any other. I’m really looking forward to pursue my goals, academically and athletically, with my new family over at Brown University. Additionally one of my best friends, Alex Park, committed there too. Go Bruno!! ”

Gu is a senior at Suffern High School and swims for Condors Swim Club. He specializes in 100 and 200 breast, 100/200 back, 200/400 IM, and 200/500 free. While he hasn’t yet swum for his high school team, he plans to do so during his senior year. “I’m really looking forward to it this year now that I’ve committed and can just focus on swimming fast.”

Gu was a multiple finalist at 2016 NCSA Spring Swimming Championships. He finished 33rd in the 400m free, 9th in the 200m breast, and 20th in the 200m IM.

His best SCY times are:

  • 200 breast – 2:00.46
  • 100 breast – 56.23
  • 200 back – 1:50.09
  • 100 back – 51.38
  • 200 IM – 1:50.88
  • 400 IM – 3:57.45
  • 200 free – 1:40.96
  • 500 free – 4:28.14

In addition to Gu and Park, Riley Pestorius has announced his verbal commitment to the application process at Brown.
