Olivia Calegan, a senior at Lincoln Southwest High School who swims for Greater Nebraska Swim Team, has made a verbal commitment to the North Carolina State University Wolfpack for 2017-18.
Calegan won the 50 yard free in each of the two last years at the NSAA Swimming & Diving Championships. She also won the 100y free in 2016 and the 100y breast in 2015 and 2014. In long course season she was runner-up in the 100 meter breast at 2016 Speedo Junior Nationals and third in the 200m breast. In addition, she finaled in the 50m free, 100m free, 100m fly, and 200m IM.

Calegan is an incredibly versatile talent, who can fill any number of needs for the Wolfpack. Her best 200 breast time would have been on the A/B-final bubble at the 2016 ACC Championships, while her 50 free and 100 breast would have been strong contenders in the B finals and her 100 free and 100 fly would have scored in the C finals.
She had quite a progression in long course season, most notably in the 200 breast where she improved from last year by 7 seconds, in the 200 IM where she dropped 4.2, and in the 100 fly where she dropped 1.5. If she can translate that success into short course yards, Calegan will be a serious weapon in the Wolfpack’s arsenal.
Calegan will be joined by fellow commits Julia Poole and Kate Moore in the NC State class of 2020.
