MP Swim Tips by Bob Bowman – Episode One
Bob Bowman, head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils Swimming and Diving Team, explains a butterfly drill he loves to use, 2-2 and 2. Demonstrated by the greatest athlete of all-time, Michael Phelps, this drill is fantastic for training butterfly, the most exhaustive of the disciplines.

Two right arm strokes, two left arm strokes, and two full strokes.
Bob Tips for 2-2 and 2
Strive to breathe on the forward strokes only. Bob doesn’t like for swimmers to breathe forward on single arm strokes because they raise their head up, forcing their hips to drop putting the athlete into an unnatural body position in the water. If you do breathe on the single arm stroke, breathe to the side to maintain a better body position.

It enables swimmers to train more butterfly and it helps them work on the rhythm of their stroke.
