After 2 days, Cal has established a dominant lead in the team standings. Cal was projected to have a good 2nd day, and that they did, as they now sit 29 points ahead of seed (which is an impressive number without accounting for divers).
Georgia had a much better day on the 2nd day of competition, and were actually up against seed. All they have to do to finish 2nd at the end of Saturday is be up-versus-seed again, and that should be just enough to hold of USC (though the Trojans still have diving points left to come).
Tennessee lost big points versus seed on that 2nd day, but that’s not a surprise as they had Jenny Connolly on a double.
The Texas Teams (UT and A&M) continue to dominate the moving-up, and not just because of divers. The Aggies have added multiple finalists on both days of this meet, which has led to big points even with a few less-than-perfect swims.
Teams in ‘green’ are up big, in swimming points, versus seed; teams in ‘blue’ are pretty close to seed in swimming (+/- 10); and teams in ‘red’ are overall still more than 10 points down for the meet as compared to seed, based on swimming.
