The NCAA has released it’s 2012 Women’s NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships “Preselection” Psych Sheet.
This psych sheet includes the three individual events that everyone is slated to enter, but does NOT include where the cut lines will be drawn. That updated list will likely be released later today.
Note: There is at least one glaring omission from these lists – Florida Gulf Coast’s entries do not appear, notably Emma Svensson’s 50 free. Her best of 22.46 would match Georgia’s Lauren Harrington in a tie for 29th, which likely bumps another swimmer out if the entries are allowed. Stay tuned.
Last year, the line for invites into individual events was drawn at top 29 or 30, and at the top 15 relays. Note that this does not mean that swimmers ranked below 30th won’t be swimming the event, or relays. There is still the option to swim “B” events for swimmers who are otherwise invited to the meet.
What this list does show us is which events coaches have chosen as their swimmers’ entries, which should relieve tension for most swimmers waiting to see if they’ve made the cut.
Stay tuned as we will update when the cut psych sheets are released, and watch as we mine through the data for interesting entries, and score the meet out as seeded.

Thanks for clarifying. Either way…bummer for Cal and especially for Roth. That could be a huge loss for the Bears since they are so dependent on their backstroke points if they want to repeat. Georgia is so strong in the freestyle events that it’s going to be very challenging for Cal to ‘hang’ with the amount of scoring that the Dawgs will receive in the 500 and 1650.
Unless Cal’s freestyle relays improve from their seeding, Georgia seems to be the team to beat.
Just for clarity since I’m new to this sport, can a relay swimmer swim individual events at NCAAs even if though don’t make the ‘cut’ but have the NCAA “B” qualifying time?
SwimFan – yep. Once you’re invited to the meet, you can swim anything you have a “B” cut in.
I don’t get why they didn’t put her on one of the relays.
You cannot arbitrarily add up a relay time using any 4 individuals you would like and submit an entry time for a relay. Each team is required to submit their fastest entry time whether it was done as a relay or an add up. Obviously most relays are faster than the add ups but there are certainly times when an 800 relay and occasionally a 400 relay get in on an add up times. In this particular case there would be no way that they could get Roth to the meet using an add up.
You’re right CoachAndDad. I was under the impression that so long as they aggregated a faster relay than the one that Roth was on, that would satisfy the “faster than” rule, but just went back through the rule book and you’re right.
That would be a story! I never understood how she can pull off a 51 tapered but only 57s during the regular season. Obviously she must be working her tail off if thats the case, but do you think she just doesnt take duel meets seriously? I mean really!! Shes gunna really have to step up next year with all the backstroke talent to compete with. Though as of now i would imagine liz pelton would choose the 200 free over the 100 back, so that makes it a little easier for deborah.
It looks like Deborah Roth, last year’s 100 back runner-up, might not even make the meet this year.
