*2016 Olympic Trials cut

Sanchez told SwimSwam, “My club coach, Mike Gautreau, was very instrumental in my decision to attend USC, along with my parents, the strong USC legacy in my family, the USC coaches, and especially the USC swim team. I have 2 uncles, 1 aunt, and 4 cousins who are alumni, 1 cousin currently attending USC, and 1 alumni cousin who is attending USC Keck Medical School.

I have only been swimming since March 2010, and have remained on the same club team under Mike Gautreau for my entire swim career. The only other swimming I had done was with my mom who taught me how to swim and on the park & rec summer swim team. I am very proud of myself for making Olympic Trials in a considerably short amount of time and for maintaining a 4.7 GPA.

I am very excited and proud to become a Trojan with the Fight On attitude!”

Sanchez will join a heavyweight class of 2020 that already includes verbal commits:
