Jensen Keck, a senior at DeKalb High School in DeKalb, Illinois, has chosen to make Illinois State her home for the next four year by giving a verbal commitment to the Redbirds. Keck represented DeKalb in the finals of the 2014 Illinois State Girls’ High School Championships, finishing ninth in the 100 breast in 1:04.89.

Keck also swims with the club team Kishwaukee YMCA Dekalb County. Her best SCY times include:

  • 50 breast – 30.35
  • 100 breast – 1:04.89
  • 200 breast – 2:22.50
  • 200 IM – 2:08.39
  • 400 IM – 4:40.53
  • 50 fly – 27.83
  • 100 fly – 1:01.41
  • 200 free – 1:59.26
  • 500 free – 5:19.86

Keck, who was the Daily Chronicle’s 2014 Girls Swimmer of the Year, will have an immediate impact on the Redbirds when she arrives in Normal. Her 100 breast time would have made the “A” final at 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Championships. This would have been a big help to the third-place Redbirds, as they only had one “A” finalist. Keck also would have just made it into the “A” final in the 200 breast, but here Illinois State had four of the top 8 finalists. In addition, both her IMs would have easily made their respective “B” finals.

Keck will join Ohio’s Rachel Rymer in the Illinois State University class of 2020.
