Anna Nebraska of Ohio State Swim Club has verbally committed to the University of Akron, Zips. The senior at Olentangy High School competed at the 2014-15 Ohio State Championships and finished 10th in both the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle in times of 51.79 and 1:51.97 respectively and also got a 14th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.00.

“I made my choice because the second I stepped onto campus the team welcomed me like family and made me feel at home. I immediately fell in love with all the girls and the coaching staff and I knew this is where I want to spend my next four years!”

Nebraska’s best times made over the last year are:

  • 50-yard freestyle: 24.00
  • 100-yard freestyle: 51.63
  • 200-yard freestyle: 1:51.55
  • 500-yard freestyle: 5:08.72
  • 200-yard backstroke: 2:03.78

Nebraska will join the Zips to swim under head coach Brian Peresie, who was named 2013-14 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year. She dropped more than one second in the 100-yard freestyle and four seconds in the 200-yard backstroke since March 2014. Nebraska’s best times would place her ninth on the Akron All-Time Top Ten Times for both these events.

Other commits to the University of Akron for fall 2016 include Jessica Bonezzi.
