Charlotte Henshaw broke her own European record in the women’s SB6 Class 100m breaststroke Friday at Scottish Nationals with a time of 1:37.56.
Henshaw’s previous record was a 1:38.46 that she set in Eindhoven, Denmark back in 2010. When she broke that record initially, Henshaw took home the silver medal at the IPC World Championships in the SB6 category.
Prior to the London Games, Henshaw swam at the 2011 IPC European Championships for Great Britain, finishing fifth int he S8 400m freestyle, 4th in the SM8 200m IM, and claiming silver in the SB6 100 breaststroke.
Since then she’s had a very successful career, even taking home a medal at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. There, Henshaw was once again second in the women’s SB6 class 100m breaststroke.
During the prelims of the 100m breaststroke at the Paralympic Games, Henshaw proke the Paralympic record with a time of 1:39.64, Later in the finals, Viktoriia Savtsova and Henshaw both went under the time from her morning swim, however due to Savtsova’s victory, the record went to her.
Now, Henshaw is re-establishing herself as one of the top SB6 Class 100m breaststroke swimmers in not only Europe, but the world.
