Jr National Champion Tommy Brewer Named Oregon Prep Swimmer Of The Year

Summit’s Tommy Brewer has been named the Oregon Male Prep Swimmer of the Year on Thursday at the 63rd annual Oregon Sports Awards. The banquet was hosted at Nike’s international headquarters, but Brewer was unable to attend.

Brewer is one of the most decorated high school swimmers to come from the state of Oregon with 12 state titles and four team titles over his high school career. Brewer is a junior national champion in the 200 breaststroke and will be taking his talent across the country this fall to swim for Auburn.

He won four events at the 5A State Championships this season, with individual victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Brewer swims for Current Swimming and is primarily a breaststroker and IMer. His best three events are currently the 100 breast (54.32), 200 breast (1:57.04) , and the 200 IM (1:46.38).

Brewer’s teammate John Hartmeier, and Catlin Gabel High School’s Tristan Fernery, were also named finalists for the award.

Ellie Thornbure was named Oregon’s Female Prep Swimmer of the Year.
