USA Women Earn Second Straight Win At FINA World League Super Final With Victory Over Canada

Shanghai, China – June 10 – The USA Women’s Senior National Team earned their second straight win at the FINA World League Super Final with a 9-3 victory over Canada earlier today. Kiley Neushul (Goleta, CA/Stanford/Santa Barbara), Makenzie Fischer (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach HS/SET), and Rachel Fattal (Seal Beach, CA/UCLA/SOCAL) each scored two goals to pace the offense while Ashleigh Johnson (Miami, FL/Princeton/Miami Riptides) posted eight saves in net. Team USA closes out group playon Thursday with a match against the Netherlands.

The United States opened up the first period with a 2-1 lead and duplicated that effort in the second period to gain a 4-2 advantage at halftime. Team USA pulled away in the third quarter outscoring Canada 3-1 to go ahead 7-3 headed to the fourth period. In the fourth the United States put the match away with two unanswered goals winning 9-3.

Both sides struggled on the power play with Team USA going 0/3 on the player advantage and 0/1 on penalties while Canada was 0/5 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty shot.
