Born Sept. 2, 1994 Florian Vogel is a German freestyle specialist that focuses on the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyles. Originally from Bayreuth, Germany Vogel has recently risen the world rankings.Vogel trains extremely hard both in the pool and out – he incorporates weightlifting into his nine swim sessions per week, which average about 6,000 kilometers. His favorite swimming set is 10×500’s fast.

Breakout
Vogel competed at the European Championships in 2013 and 2014, making his first international team. He’s currently one of the leader’s in Germany’s distance swimming, with his sights set on Rio 2016.

Iowa Commitment
In 2013 Vogel expressed interest in swimming at the NCAA DI level in the U.S. That year he committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes, and signed an NLI, but Vogel has never been listed on its roster.

27th German Swimming Championships in Berlin
At the 127th German Swimming Championships in Berlin, Vogel posted one of the fastest 400m freestyles in the world, making a huge drop in time. His performance placed him on the 2014 World Short Course Championships roster, where Vogel finished 17th in the 1500m freestyle. He’s currently one of 2015’s top-10 fastest 400m freestyle swimmers in the world.
